The CCSS Outstanding Teacher of the Year award recognizes only three educators in the state who foster civic engagement and a deep understanding of social studies among students.

Longstanding Leadership
This recognition underscores his profound impact on students and the wider 好色先生tval community. With over 17 years of dedicated service within IUSD, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to his students and innovative teaching practices. His diverse roles have included serving as Department Chair at both Irvine High School and Portola High School.
Beyond his departmental leadership, Jon has served as an Education Technology and History/Social Sciences Literacy Mentor to assist teachers and staff with enhancing their instructional practices. He also serves on IUSD鈥檚 Ethnic Studies Steering Committee, lending his expertise to support the creation and implementation of the curriculum. Jon holds undergraduate and master's degrees in history and political science from Cal State University Fullerton.
